If you fly to Amsterdam, you will need to find a way to get to the city center.
How do I get to Amsterdam from the airport?
There are several ways to get to Amsterdam from the airport:
- Train
- Bus
- Taxi
- Airport shuttle
From Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam by train
The easiest way to get to the city center from the airport is to take on the train for a 15 minute ride to Centraal Station.
Just follow the signs, and you’ll find your way. You will see ticket machines where you can buy a roundtrip ticket for EUR 9.50. 1 or 2 trains leave for Centraal station every 10 to 20 minutes between the hours of 6am and 1am, and between 1am and 6am there is one train every hour.
(Warning: the ticket is only valid for the the dates it is purchased for). And the ticket is not valid for public transportation in Amsterdam (metro, tram, bus, ferry).
Remember to punch in your ticket before you get to the platform.
From Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam by bus
KLM bus offers rides every half hour from the airport to hotels in the city center (7.85 EUR)
GVB bus number 370 Interliner serves the south and center of Amsterdam and leaves every half hour from 5:45 am to 1am (5EUR)
Slower and more expensive than the train…
From Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam in the Airport Shuttle
This is a shuttle bus that takes you directly to your hotel for 27EUR round trip if your hotel is on the list of 55 hotels served in the city centre.
Departure every 30 minutes between 7am and 9pm.
This solution is more expensive than the train, but can be practical if you have heavy suitcases…
From Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam by Taxi
In my opinion, this is not a good choice! No quicker, and much more expensive than any other option (nearly 50EUR one way)!
